I think writers like writing revenge thrillers so much because it makes it easy to avoid the trap of the passive protagonist. Vengeance is hard work.

i can't really argue the ethics of the particular situation here, but that sort of thing bugs me to no end. i do think that *anyone* who treats someone providing them a *service* (whether there's a monopoly on it or whatever else the situation is) with that huge of an entitled jackassy attitude *clearly* has never held a job in which they had to do any sort of customer service.

and should be shot.

I think if a cabbie doesn't want a credit card machine in his cab, fine, but those cabs should have clear notifications on the door that they're a cash only cab. It's not fair to the consumer to not know until the end of the ride when they have no to little cash on them.

Thanks for your 'stream of consciousness' - and thanks for the learning of a new word today - homunculus.

This might be of interest - or might not :
http://gatwickcity.phpbb3now.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=535&p=8598#p8598

Mega Theory puts forward the idea that we have a Moral Instinct (much like Chomsky's Language Faculty), which 'controls' the rest - that which weaves the web to make us who we are.

Judging by your comments, I don't think you will agree with me. Fine - it's just a Theory.

My own instincts tell me, while spin on the crust of molten rock hurtling round a ball of fire - is that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, rather than human beings having a spiritual experience (Tielhard de Chardin's idea).

Who knows - can't prove it either way.

Just a few thoughts on your thoughts.

Thanks again.
